Finlandia University Trail Work Day September 2018

Helping the Trails Recover…

Bridget Durocher, who was the Finlandia University Athletic Director at
the time of the 2018 Father’s Day Flood, approached KNSC about using
their student athletes to help clean up Swedetown Gorge. On September
8th of that year approximately 35 of the Finlandia Lions turned out to
salvage bridge lumber from the debris field just upstream from Sisu
Bridge. Bridget’s whole family turned out to help too along with her
husband John Durocher. John who is an experienced logger besides being
at Associate Professor in the Biology Department at Michigan Tech
brought his chain saw to help clear the mess.  Under the supervision of
KNSC Board members John Diebel and Wayne Stordahl much was accomplished
in just a couple hours.

Getting a briefing for the day ahead.

This is what SISU looks like.  Many Thanks
