Glide N Gorge – Saturday February 27, 2016
The 8th annual Glide N Gorge will boldly leap from Sunday to Saturday this year. As in the past, we’ll be ready to serve up great fun and better eats from noon until 3pm at the Maasto Hiihto ski trails in Hancock.
For this unique event, you’ll start at the Four Seasons Chalet at the Houghton County Fair Grounds.
Over the 3.5 mile course, you’ll experience some of the most spectacular scenery our trail system has to offer, with plenty of delicious eats along the way.
The first stop, near Tomasi Drive, is where you’ll enjoy tasty appetizers, a toasty warm bon fire and friendly conversations, as they fuel up for the amazing journey along the Swedetown Creek Gorge.
As you ski along the river, you will experience its tranquility, taking in the most breathtaking scenes as you listen to the ripple of the creek at your side.
To top it off, near the end of the river, bowls upon bowls of soups, stews, and chilies with plenty of homemade bread and hot and cold beverages will be awaiting your hungry arrival.
After sampling all of the delicious food and spending some time enjoying the fellowship of others, you will begin your journey back to the Chalet. Once you climb up Sisu Hill, it is just a short jaunt back to the Chalet where you will be served mouth watering desserts as you enjoy live music. You won’t want to miss out on this incredible afternoon.
Bring your friends and family or just come by yourself-you will be among friends you may or may not have met!
Tickets for this event are $20. Get your ticket early – they go for $25 at the door. Consider purchasing extra tickets to give to friends. You’ll be supporting the trails by contributing to this annual fundraiser, plus by introducing others to the beauty of the Gorge.
New this year! Purchase your tickets online. To buy in person, visit Down Wind Sports in Houghton, Cross Country Sports in Calumet, or from any KNSC board member.
